Why Materials Matter
Some lower bids may include box vents instead of continuous ridge vent systems. While box vents may reduce cost upfront, they can dent during hailstorms and do not provide the same balanced attic ventilation as a continuous ridge vent system.
Others may propose applying ice and water shield across the entire roof deck instead of properly sealing decking seams. While this may seem easier during installation, improper moisture management can create ventilation issues that may contribute to mold over time.

FORTIFIED roofs require extensive photo documentation (average 800-1,500 photos per project) and precise records for your chosen evaluator and IBHS engineers in Florida to review, both of whom ultimately decide on whether to award your FORTIFIED certificate.
